I have two breeds of birds, New Hampshire red and Buff Orpington, both breeds lay brown eggs. The last few days I noticed that one of the girls is laying eggs that look faded. Every day one egg is getting lighter and today it looked almost white. Is this normal or is she having problems?

I have noticed that in both my BR and BO eggs. Diet does effect the color. Have you changed anything?

How far along is she in her laying cycle? It's not at all unusual for eggs to become lighter in color as the hen progresses through her cycle. Her store of egg color, which is put in place over the white shell can get somewhat depleted if she has been laying for a long time.
