I am not against your feed, but I am wondering about it. Wheat harvest is once a year, in a certain month? And then it gets stored, and at some point your grandpa gets some ground to make feed? I expect you've had more than one batch over 2 years. How recently was this batch made? And does your grandpa have chickens he feeds with it, too?
He has a certain formula for it every year. He adds a certain amount of protein and a certain amount of ground wheat. I get new feed every year from him and its the same thing every time. I'm not sure what the formula is exactly, but he is very strict on it.
I use up a batch once a year, then am able to get more from him. We store the feed in watertight barrels and only open up one barrel at a time.
This batch was made in April, I'm still on my first barrel of it.
My grandpa used to have chickens years ago, and used the formula as well. My parents used to have chickens and used it just like he did. This is my second batch of chickens of raising them on my own and this kind of thing has only happened with this second batch of chicks.
