I bought six Welsummer chicks from a hatchery this spring and one of the roos has turned out with white earlobes. He is marked the same as the other Welsummer roo except that he is smaller in frame and matured much earlier. I have found pictures of Brown Leghorn roos on the internet and he looks like them. I also researched Welsummer background and found that they have leghorn in their background (patridge, I believe - though they not longer exist. Does anyone know if it is possible for a Welsummer to have a throw back to leghorn or do you think the hatchery simply got a brown leghorn chick mixed in with my Welsummers? He sure is a gorgeous boy!!
Of course, my other Wellie roo is a good looker too. Thanks.
