Brown Leghorn & Welsummers

I’m confused. After some research I’m noticing brown leghorn and Welsummers look almost identical. I purchased three Welsummers last month for the dark brown eggs and now I’m questioning whether they’re brown leghorns or in fact Welsummers Any distinct differences that I can look for? Anybody familiar with these breeds?

Brown leghorns should have bright white earlobes while Welsummers have red ones. Hope this helps!

When they get older welsummers will have red earlobes while brown leghorns will have white.
If you bought them as welsummers why would you doubt they are?

OK great! I will look for this. I hadn’t noticed their earlobes yet LOL, I’ll definitely check when I get home.

Any distinct differences that I can look for?

When they get old enough to lay eggs, Leghorns lay white eggs and Welsummers lay brown ones. (All Leghorns should lay white eggs, no matter what color their feathers are.)

This is the most recent pic from last week. I can’t see any earlobes lol. They’ve grown a ton in the past week however so I’ll check when I get home. And one now has a considerably bigger comb that seems to be a little pinker than it’s siblings. So he may be a Roo all
We’re sold as Welsummer pullets. So we shall see!
