brown leghorns????

I second everything that Ticks said about leghorns. Our brown leghorns are borderline psychotic. Thank goodness for our one absolute love-sponge of a Buff Orp.

I also second the folks who say that they're attractive. It's true that I do like looking at them from afar as they flee from me to roost on the drive shaft of the garage door opener. They also look very pretty as they wedge themselves in between pieces of firewood in the stack as they try to escape us.

Reliable layers - absolutely. In fact, one of our leghorns has actually laid an egg while spazzing out. She laid it on my foot as she flapped from wall to wall like a feathered pinball.

Those look like brown leghorns, very pretty.

I love all my leghorns. I have pearl whites and a single-comb brown from McMurray. They are all quite friendly, and have been handled a LOT from the day they arrived. I like to sit out in the coop and let them get to know me, and it really helps. Handle them a lot, you'll like them more.

wow i didnt know brown leghorns are supose to be flighty. I thought they were so supose to be easy going chickens. Oh well i am glad they are brown leghorns because i wanted some. I got some similar last year but they turned into some old english. Are you sure they arnt old english? How can you tell the difference? the only difference i saw was the leg color and stupid me, when i got the ones last year i forgot to check the leg color. So i am really hoping these are brown leghorns.

yeah mine do look like mine. Except what color are those feet. On mine, the color of their feet is a peachy, kinda yellow color. Are they supose to be bright yellow or does it matter?

I have one brown leghorn and one Welsummer and they both looked alike at first. Then the leghorn was a little browner than the welsummer who was a little more redish gold. Now they look a like still but the leghorn has a very large comb that flops over and the welsummer comb is quite small.

I notice something clipped on the wings of the chicks what is that?

Yeah thats how I feel about them too! Just today I was in the yard just laughing at their antics. They are so crazy!!! And Pretty! They are getting a little less wild now that they know me a bit.

I see they have something clipped on their wings. But I don't remember mine having the white spots that yours do on the wings

where i got them, they had put those clips in their wings to mark them as pullets. I hate it that they did that to all those little birds. I think that if they are going to mark them as pullets they should put a ring around their foot or mark them with a marker or something. I think its horrible that they marked them with those clips. I would never do that to my own chicks if i started selling them
