My buff orpington (3yrs) has one eye closed and it has little brownish crusty looking spots on its outer lower eyelid. (I see posts about 3rd eyelids, and have no idea what that is....) The other eye looks fine, and the other hens look alright. I didn't notice an injury, but I'm not very experienced.
She "free ranges" in about a half acre fenced area with about 20 other chickens during the day, her nesting box has pine shavings with DE in it. We feed laying crumbles, scratch grain, (cukes and tomatoes lately.)
I isolated her and spread some triple antibiotic ointment on it.
I didn't see any similar posts here when I did a search.....
I'd appreciate any advice.
