Just saw an ad for this chicken feed..Brown's Layer Booster Daily Chicken Feed. Has anyone ever tried this brand? Here are the ingredients. What do you think?

Never tried it, but the 20% looks good. It's just FM Browns entry into the "backyard pet" industry as opposed the poultry feed they have made for years which has animal protein in it. From what I've seen it is overpriced. JMHO

I've been using it for my 1yr old hens since they started laying, so I have nothing to compare it to as a reference. It is way overpriced, the only reason I'm using it is because I have a way to get free giftcards to Petco and order it through them. When/if I'm unable to get anymore gift cards I'll just be buying the regular stuff from TS at about 1/2 the cost.

I think from Petco it's normally like $17 or $18 for 20lbs, but I wait till it's on sale for $13 then I cash in my gift cards. Without the free gift cards I would not be using it.

But all that being said, I have no complaints about it.

Petco now has it for $12.38 for a 20 lb bag. It is pricey and that is why I wanted to know if anyone else has tried it and how their chickens did with it. Also wonder what percentage is soybean meal?

My girls are normally all organic, as when I switched them to a local feed they stopped laying for 14 weeks. But I do use this feed as a supplement to the organic Blue Seal layer feed and they really like it. I have 8 hens and when they are well fed and happy I average 6-8 eggs a day. Without the Brown's, the production drops. Petco has it often for ~$12 a bag, which is a great deal considering what I pay for organic. Your hens will like it!
