BRs,used your tricks on sexing...thoughts?

It's funny. Everyone here is thinking roo, everyone on another Chicken site is firmly convinced they are pullets.

I give up!

desertgirl, that looks like a rooster and pullet, however, in about 10-15% of the cases, a pullet will have a larger spot and a cockerel will have some dark on the legs. I have one hen who had a huge headspot, blurry even, not much dark on the legs, much lighter coloring, but nevertheless, is now a 3 yr old hen and the mother of many chicks. When the wings feather, post pics then, because at that point, most cockerels have very wide white bars while the girls may have a bar at the end of the wing and not much else for awhile.
In your last pic, the one on the left has a bit of "frosting" that goes out from the actual distinct spot. That usually indicates cockerel, but I said usually. There are always exceptions. Neither of yours has the really dark leg fronts that my pullets always seem to have, but that can vary, too. Does one chick look sort of "faded" black and the other look deep velvety black? The faded one is usually the cockerel.

Here is what my BR looked like as a few days old (better be a girl, still waiting to find out, but are 5 weeks and the comb is still tight and yellow)

I was told 98% sure they are girls from the feedstore (they ordered only girls, but the hatchery only promises 98%)

I was also told the grey legs are more common on girls along with the non-existant white on the head...and because people told me nealy non-existant, I was worried because there is a little white in that fluff on her head, not much but compared to your photos, it's closer to non-existant...

I hope we all have GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS!!!

~*Sweet Cheeks*~ :

This doesn't help much now - this was at 5.5 wks old - shows the combs, barring, and legs.

Is the one on the right a roo or pullet?

Does the barring on the legs mean girl or boy?

Nope - all three are pullets - 13 wks old now. The one on the right was the quickest to feather and grow.

I'll attach a picture I have of the three at 2 wks old that show the different sizes as I had one that grew really fast, then medium and small. They are all the same size now and hard to tell them apart.

The pic will show the white spot on the head as being a circle of white without shadowing. The little tail feathers that started to develop and the white bars on the tip of the feathers.

m2wandc - your BR really looks like a pullet to me.

Well that's good for me, because they look just like my BR at 5 weeks old.

I'm curious to follow the roo/pullet outcome of these two babies...
