Bruised comb? Or frostbite?

Can chickens get a bruise on their comb? How might I know the difference between a bruise and frostbite?

Last week I was holding a hen, and as I was setting her down, another hen ran over and grabbed her comb for a second. There was no blood, but now there is a black/blue spot on the comb. I'm pretty sure the spot is a bruise, but it's cold and wintery here and I want to be sure it's not frost bite.

I would certainly put Vaseline on the comb regardless of what it is. Or if pecked, some triple antibiotic ointment. Birds with combs like that are much less prone to get frostbite . So it might be a scab.
