BSFL set up...do I need to trap the flies?

Hey! I'm setting up a BSFL situation. Ive got a tub and ramp and collection bin and all that...from the many designs I've seen online, people seem to just leave a gap for flies to come and go... Do they come back? Questioning if it's worth hanging a mosquito net over it or something to keep the flies contained so the only lay eggs in my tub and not out in the world.
