BTW - It's snowing

We are in the middle of an ice storm. The weird thing is that when the ice started falling, it was like little balls of ice that didn't clump together. You could stomp in a pile and it splashed like water, but when you scooped it up it was dry and light - like tiny plastic beads. Now it is a nice frozen crust covering everything and raining.
I opened the hen house for a couple of hours, but none of the girls (or the boy) wanted to come out. It is supposed to warm to above freezing tonight, then start a steady drop after 4am until we're into the teens with a 20mph wind. Cold day for chicken chores.

So far we have about 5" of the white stuff, still calling for around 10" or so, plus it's starting to get windy and later tonight it's going to be freezing rain. That should be fun to clear off the walkway in the morning, snow covered by ice,

We've only had a flake here and there this afternoon. The weather people are still saying it's going to be messy into tonight and tomorrow morning. It got dark really early and it smells like snow. We'll see.
Oh-my five year old just came running in to say it's started to snow.

Well, the 4.5 inches of snow here that fell between 2 and 10 pm is now melting. Only about 2 inches left and should be gone by 10 pm.

Wooooo-hoooooo, just started here about 4pm, horses are fed, sheeted and chickens are in! The only thing that stinks is I leave here at 5:30am for work,,,,I sooooo want to stay home.

our snow was gone about 2 hours after it started. It then rained, and rained and rained. It is pouring outside. The chickens haven't come out of the coop all day. My backyard is flooded. I hate the rain. I love the snow. un
