Hello,
We have had a few late nights with work here. I have been letting the chicken out in the morning and locking them in at night when it’s dark out. I’ve used a flash light to check on everyone and they all looked happy and healthy.
Tonight, however I noticed one of out Roos (9 weeks old) was missing some tail feathers. Upon inspection he has an extremely poopy bum and a red bubble coming out of his rectum. He seems to be acting and eating fine.
I’m going to soak his bottom in some warm water and try to clean it up. Must be horribly uncomfortable:( I feel so bad we didn’t notice this sooner!
Here are some photos. Anyone know what it is and if anything can be done?

You will need to separate him from the flock or the other chickens will peck at that and do him a serious, if not fatal, injury. Confine him to a dog crate. Best to keep him in the house or some place where flies can't get at it. Do a search on vent prolapse here on the site.
