Does anyone know what would cause an air bubble under a chick’s wing and what we should do about it?

I just noticed it while giving the chicks a look over. No injuries that we know of. Seams healthy otherwise but must cause discomfort cause she doesn’t like to be held around wings. She’s about 3 weeks old. Hatched at home.

Seems to be, though I’de have to separate her to be sure. Vent looks clean. Eyes & nose normal. Breathing is fine. Is this caused by anything contagious? Should she be quarantined? I’ve never seen anything like it.

It might be a leaking air sac, also called subcutaneous emphysema. Birds have air sacs all over the body which is part of their respiratory system. A bump or injury can cause one to rupture. As long as she is in no distress, I would just watch it and it will hopefully be reabsorbed back into the body. If it gets very large, just can insert a needle into it and pull the air out with a syringe or press it out with just a needle.
