I can't get that product here, but I did a search for VetRX and visited a website to get more information on that product.
The description of the product is as follows:
"
VetRx Poultry Remedy is based on a natural formula that has been in use since 1874, and is to be used as an aid in treating respiratory problems in all varieties of poultry. Its ingredients include Canada Balsam, Camphor, Oil of Origanum, Oil of Rosemary and more.

VetRx should be administered at the first signs of respiratory disease, often indicated by gaping, sneezing, and gasping. VetRx can also be used in the treatment of scaly leg mites and eye worm, too.

It sounds like a good product to start, but it isn't antibiotics.

much better! I was giving her water with a syringe today, and she ran from my arms and literally cried at the other side of the run.. I let her in, and none of the Chickens were mean to her.. then she ate a couple Pellets with the other hens, and walked over and drank some water!!!!! I think maybe the loss of appetite was from being separated from the flock! She is in with them now, and seemingly alot healthier, but I'm still keeping a close eye on her!

That is a really good sign! I have to say I am very impressed with your attention to detail and determination, as a teen. You are facing many obstacles that you have no control over but you seek solutions, that is a great personality trait to have!

I pray your chicken is well very soon but regardless you have done an amazing job taking care of her sometimes there is just nothing you can do.

If I could recommend, assuming your budget allows for it, next time you go into town buy some basic supplies so you have them on hand in case this spreads to others in your flock or pops up again.

If she were my hen, I'd go ahead and treat her since you know she's fighting something and frankly... respiratory infections have a bad habit of coming back if they're not fully cured... it's like they call in the troops for reinforcements and attack again. The sooner she's FULLY healed from this, the better. You'll want to keep some of that antibiotic in your livestock medicine chest too, for just in case.
