I was out of town for about 5 days and had someone checking on my flock every other day letting them out and topping off water and feed. One of their waterers was not clean when I left but we were running very late and I couldn’t wash it before I left. They had two other brand new feeders and waterers so I crossed my fingers. Clearly the wrong call. I was inspecting my flock today because of the large areas of wet bedding in the coop, noticing everyone looked a lot healthier, the color is back in the broody hens combs, no wheezing or open mouth breathing, but then I grabbed one of my Easter egger and saw bubbles in the eyes. I think that is a sign of mycoplasm but I couldn’t find the threads.
I took out the dirty waterer and refilled the 5 gallon bucket feeder and drip waterer. Where do I go from here? Are the eggs ok to eat? I gave away several dozen to the person who cared for my hens and other family members when I got back. How do I treat my flock? Should I be looking at another cause or culprit?
It has been very hot and humid but my run is shaded with large oak trees. I just cleaned out the run of the composted hay from the last several months and added new hay before I left. They have pelletized bedding in the coop under the roosting bars and hay in the nesting boxes. There were several dirty eggs in the nest today. And the runny poop ranges from dark in color to a yellowish tan. We did switch feed when we left. They were out of the dumour layer crumbles so we bought the 50lb tractor supply brand to get us through. I have 12 hens and if one is sick at this point they all likely are.
Please help
