Buckets as Nest Boxes

Quote:
Darn! I already threw out two of the lids!
I never thought of using the hinge part of the lid to keep the bedding in.
Great idea!

And I love your wash tub idea!! Cool!!

I am using the same white containers that I got from Walmart, with that nice cut out front, they came in a set of 3 which was perfect and I put shaving in them for comfort and easy clean up if they would get messy.

I'm using a row of 5 buckets as nest boxes, and have it set up so they can be removed for cleaning etc in other words, not nailed or screwed etc in.

Anyone using buckets as nest boxes? Any thoughts on this?
Buckets, milk crates, plastic dish pans, ect.ect. all of these do well. I prefer 5 gal. buckets personally, they are so easy to clean and if your hen is broody you can pick her whole nest up and move her if you need to with out bothering her one bit.
