I got five buff Ameraucana pullets from renouned Ameraucana breeder John Blehm back last April.
They are darling little girls. Very friendly, cute as all get out.
Oh, did I mention that their favorite activity is brooding and mothering?
These ladies are not even a year old yet, and every one of them has gone broody at least once. One of them went broody for the second time 18 days ago. She will deliver chicks either Tuesday or Wednesday. Two others have announced their intent to brood in the last three days.
They are dedicated broodies and great mothers.
I always heard that bantam Silkie hens are feathered incubators, but -- at least based on my experience -- so are buff Ameraucana ladies.
