Buff Barred Cochin Thread

Thanks guys. He was hatched from Danny's eggs.
Here's a pullet from the pair I got from Lynne last year.

Well, they're here ... all the way from Lynn in CA and not a feather harmed. I was so relieved when I picked them up at the post office and heard them peeping in the box. The rooster is even more beautiful in "person" and so are the pullets.

Congrats!!!

I had 5 chicks hatch from Lynne on 5/9 & 5/10. Hopefully I will find the time to post pics soon. Shearing day tomorrow for the alpacas and trying to wrap up outdoor projects before it gets too hot.

Okay, I am ready to show my first baby from Dynamite, the roo from Lynne and my less than decent black barred hen. I have other babies growing up but am super happy with this fella on type. As most of you know, I go with type first and foremost. Dynamite seems to be up to filling the shoes because this boy has type down pat.

You can see the MFC buddy behind him. Not near the type that the Dynamite son has. And believe me, the hen is nothing to write home about. I can't wait to get Barbara's babies mature enough to drool over. She has the best type on the black barred hens.

Isn't he spectacular? And there are others growing up, too but this is the oldest and is now running the brooder room floor so easy to take photos of without looking goofy.

And you can see a bit of buff barring trying to peak through on his shoulder.

So now I am up and running a bit better. I appreciate Lynne letting me purchase this lovely pair of buff barred beauties and I so hope to make her proud of what I accomplish with her bloodlines.

If Dynamite can produce such a handsome little fella like this with an average hen, I can't wait to see all the kids mature up from the buff girls I have been hatching out by him. Wowza!

Yeah, not that far. Was born in MD and moved to VA in teens. I have driven to MD to pick up chickens before. Took me all morning/afternoon round trip but was worth it. :D
Yeah, it's not too bad. I used to drive every weekend too and from Blacksburg. I was living there while hubby lived here so I could attend veterinary school. Trips are harder now with all the kids, but the kids and I ran up to PA last week to pick up 3 (just 3) chicks, lol. Took all day, but as you say, well worth it.

Honey- she is looking really good now that she has molted and her type is a lot better than it has looked in the past. It's getting better everyday
