Hello everyone! I’m happy to be a part of BYC!!! We are new to raising chickens and have a 4.5 week old buff brahma bantam that we’re wondering what gender it is. I’ve done a bunch of research and haven’t really found anything consistent to help with determining the sex of the chicken. She has a small comb, but it’s red. She shows small slits for wattles, but are slightly pink. Lots of fluffy feathers on her back and a long tail. She’s a bit aggressive and stands off with our two other cockerels. She also bites (not pecks) when we put our hand in the brooder. She’s a little nervous at first, but cocky once she’s comfortable. She also pecks at some of the other, bigger girls. Any thoughts on if she is just a feisty little pullet or is she a cockerel? Thanks!!!

I think you are correct and it is a cockerel. My Brahma bantams are 6 weeks old and none of them have that much comb development.

Thanks for your comment, I strongly feel that he is a cockerel also.
