Hi

I need advice ,I have pair of buff Brahma .They are currently 14-15 months old .The female have last laid the eggs 4-5 month age .

Yesterday when I check them physically found very tiny insects under there feathers, the color of these bugs are like off white or pinkish any idea. They aye so tiny that I don’t things they will be visible in pictures. I don’t have access to any vets around .I live in Pakistan ,not much animal facilities available over here.

I am feeding them with layer feed. Any expert advice on it.

Polite Regards

Salman

They usually lose some weight when broody, and sometimes can lose too much, especially when it goes on so long like this. I had this happen to me once, but usually they give up in or weeks, or sooner. If you are around, you could lift her off the nest several times a day, and prod her til she runs around some, and eats and drinks.

I also wonder whether this is broodiness or hiding to avoid being overmated. Do they live together in a fairly small space? When she does leave the nest, and he mates her, does she invite it (squat down low) or does he have to chase her and force it? If you think she may be avoiding being mated, you could try removing the rooster for a few days and she if she leaves the nest. If she is under enough stress, just the stress could also cause her not to lay. Chickens usually do better if there is one rooster with several hens.

Thanks a lot .I am quit new to this forum ,It was my mistake what i was trying to explain is that my hen has not laid a single egg since 4-5 month .Is this normal .She is around 14 months old .

Thanks
