Buff Brahma eggs -Why are they so small?

I have two Buff Brahmas. They are both laying but the eggs aren't getting any bigger. They have been laying for about three weeks now and the eggs are about an inch and a half big. Does anyone know if they should get bigger and how long that takes? Also the one keeps sitting in the nest for half the day until I take her out. Could she be getting broody at 21 weeks?

If they've been really laying for three weeks and they are only 21 wks old, that makes them outrageously early layers for Brahmas. I have certainly not seen Brahmas lay anywhere near that young. Maybe they started early for some reason and you'll just get pullet eggs longer til they fully mature?

My experience with light brahmas is that they always start to lay around 20 weeks of age.

I'm not familiar with the buff's, however the eggs from the light's become larger after the first molt.

One needs to remember also that brahmas develop slowly.....a trait I personally love. The longer you have brahmas, the more you will love them.

The nutrition in a small egg is the same as a large....simply use 2 for one at the present pullet time!

It was my light brahmas that started laying early, 19 weeks, and yes the eggs are small at first. They will get larger. In fact, I've been keeping track of the one's eggs and after about a dozen her eggs are getting slightly larger with each one.
Edited because I just woke up from a nap and my speller isn't awake yet.

How about her sitting in the nest for half the day- Is that normal because I'm sure she can't be broody yet?! Is it just taking her that long to lay?
