With a Buff Brahma rooster, chicks should have feathered feet and pea combs. What would chicks from a Buff Brahma rooster and Fibro Egger hen look like?
Wow, thanks. When you say the chick will have white/ yellow skin, does that mean half black/half white feet and beak are possible or juat white? I am seeing half black, half white feet and beaks on some chicks and wondering if the Buff Brahma, or not. ThanksWith a Buff Brahma rooster, chicks should have feathered feet and pea combs.
I would expect the chicks to have light-colored skin (white or yellow), despite what their mother has, because Brahmas have a dominant gene that blocks the expression of the fibro in the skin.
If the hen's feathers are all black, the chicks are likely to be black also, but may show bits of leakage as they grow up (bits of gold or red, or possible white).
If the hen lays blue or green eggs, I would expect at least some of her daughters to lay green eggs. She might also produce some daughters that lay brown eggs, or she might not, depending on what genes she has.
I'm not familiar with "Fibro Eggers," so I made a few guesses about what traits are probably present (black skin, black feathers, lay blue or green eggs.) If I got any of them wrong, then my predictions about the chicks will be wrong too.
I'm mostly thinking of the skin all over the body (which is black in Silkies and Ayam Cemani and a few other fibro breeds.)Wow, thanks. In that case, if a chick has partial light feet and partial light beak, it is more likely to have the Brahma as father, but I don't think that is entirely certain. I've read about fibro chickens producing occasional chicks with bits of light on their toes. The other roosters are a White Silkie and a Splash Silkie. Both of those have black feet and beaks.
