Buff Brahma

I think you have a pullet--you should be seeing male plumage by now if it is male. I don't see anything.
Last year I was sure my favorite hen was a cockerel, but she was just a very healthy girl, with lots of personality. At 8 weeks she looked like a cockerel but by 12 weeks it was obvious she's all girl.

Chickens all grow at their own rates. I have 2 Buff Brahmas and 2 Barred Rock pullet and they look completely different from week to week!

My Buff Brahmas were sooooo tiny at 2 months! But they've shot up like weeds. At 13 weeks they're almost my biggest pullets.

Week 8

Week 13

They do grow at their own rate, and slowly often, then a burst of speed. My adults are just over a year old and will still continue to grow for months yet, as they mature very slowly.
I've kept all the first batch I hatched 920) and from that got the three that look like the posters, with white feathering. So then I checked my adults very carefully, and the nicest male has white in a tail feather and white in foot feathers--so he obviously has Light in his background.

These young ones all hatched in March.

This is some of the adults. Well, mostly the males.

The hen on the right is beautiful, has a nice old fashioned beetle brow. Several of them are very light buff, hense the colour problems. but I'd rather fix the most important traits first, and then try to fix the colour problem. It's going to take years...

My new little buff Brahma girl. I love her she is so sweet but still very baby like compared to the White Cochin I bought for her buddy. The Cochin girl terrorizes her and dominates her needlessly., I need to know will the Brahma grow to where she is able to deal with her better or should I look for a different buddy for her. They are about 6 weeks old. I had to put the Cochin in a crate so Cricket the Brahma can relax.

Do they cuddle at night together? If yes, they will be fine. If no, she needs a gentler companion. My brahmas are huge snugglers, they love to cuddle.maybe another brahma.
