I'm going to be getting 3 buff and 3 light Brahma day old chicks in march. Ive never had them before but they are just so beautiful and seem like great natured birds that I can't wait to add them to my small existing flock! Since they are feathered feet, do they require extra care, having to clean their feet off often? My run has sand in it and a small portion of it gets wet in the winter.

I set 14 Buff Brahma eggs on March 20th. I selected my two heaviest hens and biggest rooster and separated them to gather eggs from. I hope I can get some nice chicks in a few weeks.

That should help to get you brahma type, then from those chicks look at tail carriage, smuttiness, and pattern. Type wide, wide, wide is the key thing first. I threw a couple smutty into my breeding pen because they had good heads.
