I got these chicks from a tractor supply. They were labeled light brahma pullets but I could tell they were actually buff brahma. Anyway, I want to make sure they are pullets and not cockerels. I know it's hard to tell with the pea combs but I'm guessing they are female. I got them mid August so 20-21 weeks old? What do yall think? 20200105_163029.jpg 20200105_163039.jpg 20200105_163036.jpg 20200105_163032.jpg 20200105_163048.jpg 20200105_163044.jpg 20200105_163041.jpg

Aren't the tail feathers a iridescent green on buff brahma cockerels? These chickens don't have that. The neck feathers are usually more pointed on brahmas than other chicken breeds. I have 4 light brahma girls that for the longest time I thought were roos, but they alas are hens. They all have the pointed neck feathers. These chickens are around 5 months old, around laying age, so reddening of the comb and wattles is expected. But they could be late blooming cockerels. Maybe an expert knows better?

They both have pointed saddle feathers. They’re slow maturing males, otherwise they’d have a full set of shiny saddle feathers, they’ll grow male tail feathers in over the next couple of months.
