buff cochin - do girls sometimes have huge waddles/combs?

She has got some serious wattles and a comb, but she is a she. 100%.

I had two Black Penedesenca roosters. They were brothers but one of them regularly mounted and attempted to breed his brother.

Congradulations.. This thread has given me hope.. I hatch out 8 lav orp eggs.. I have 8 that are 6 weeks old and all look like cockerels.. I know it is in MY odds to get 8/8 roos, but how depressing. I am now gonna hang on to these ladies.. (so I keep calling them) untill we know for sure.

5 weeks old I think here.. and some waddles are redder then others..

thanks... I know they still may be roos in the end.. but maybe,, just maybe 2 will be hens..

I was also mistaken on another one of my birds (buff orpington)...thought it was a roo and she is now laying an egg just about every day. My other buff cochin as a relatively big waddle/comb too but nothing compared to this one...

She is indeed a girl - started laying!
I read through your thread on your Cochin. I hope you are still on here! I have one with big red wattles and comb. Doesn’t have saddle feathers or pointy tail! I am attaching a picture. He/she is 3 months old.
