Buff colored Cuckoo marans?

well it seems to me they owe you some kind of compensation for a NON CM. Any idea how many others weren't CM's?

Now i'm new to the whole breeding chickens thing so bear with my dumb questions...

But the cuckoo, black copper, and wheaten marans....can they be bred interchangeably and still get purebred marans? Kind of like labrador retrievers...you can breed yellow and chocolate and get pups that are one or the other (or even black)?

Or is each color to be treated as a separate breed?
