Well where are the pics?

I don't think we've seen pics of your birds have we? I have decided to not do any hatching this year {oh yes I haven't told my girls yet] I have 4 older ducks that I am going to let pass away before I add any more to my flock, because of price of feed and not knowing what is going to happen in this country, I just want to be able to take care of the ones I have. I cannot eat my ducks. or my geese. for that matter. Not yet anyway . Hoping it won't ever come to that.

Miss Lydia, yes, lets hope it doesn't come to it either. It does appear that we are in more dire straights than anyone feels comfortable with. Thomas Jefferson would be terribly dissapointed in us, and I'm guessing Gearge Washington and Abe Lincoln would be too.

people need to return to living off the land and being more self sufficient and stop with the plastic wrapped food. Our Gov needs to down size and stop trying to dictate every move. Yes marty the founding fathers of this nation would be very disappointed.

Celtic, I agree with you 110%. I'm glad we are so close to self sufficient, and I intend to move forward with even more. I do my own eggs and birds. I hunt (deer and waterfowl). I garden. We're working on our wood burning stove to put in the old fireplace (for safety, no more using the 130+ year old one - I've never used it personally) for heat and cooking if need be.

I wish the government would back off. They need to remember that some of us still have some sense.

I'm sure more agree with you than will ever say so.

The best thing about freedom is having the ability to make your own decisions, good or bad, and then live with the consequences. When either the choice or the consequence is removed, we are entrapped. Now look around. Where are we at? Giving up our liberties one little choice at a time. Seems the majority are rushing headlong into entrapment. (I'm libertarian in case anyone wonders)

I agree with all of you. I am scared at the direction we are heading. I just heard that Hobby Lobby a Christian owned store franchise is facing up to 1.3 million dollars a day in fines by our government because they refuse to put the morning after pill and birth control on their health care coverage plan. Who are they to dictate to such a high degree on social issues in our country? They call that which is moral hate and look at the immoral social issues as freedom. Government is too BIG and they are the cause of our high grain prices. They want people more dependent on them and less self sufficient. We have all faced hardships with the innocent things we enjoy like raising our poultry and living off the land. Hey if you tell everyone in this country they are nothing more than animals and that there is no God, then they shouldn't cry out on mainstream media when people behave like animals. And they shouldn't use this as an excuse to take away our RIGHTEOUS freedoms. If you say whats true for me is true for me and whats true for you is true for you, what if my truth says yours is a lie? Is it true?Sorry, I'm going to stop there as I have been warned by many that this is one of the most heavily moderated sites online and if you aren't going to talk just about birds than you shouldn't say anything. And Marty, you might want to use that 130 year old wood stove. They made things much better back then, lol.

Oh, I do apologize Miss Lydia. I no longer have geese. I did own a pair of American Buffs and a pair of Giant White Embdens from Holderreads. I sold those off and I'm not sure if I have any pictures stored anywhere. When I buy I look for the best I can find. I dont keep a lot on hand but I own Regal Red turkeys, Lilac Turkeys, a pair of Impeyan Pheasants, a flock of pure lady amherst from San Diego Zoo stock, a flock of pure Red Golden Pheasants from San Diego Zoo stock, Green and Emerald Spaulding Peafowl, White peafowl, Pied Peafowl, Opal Peafowl, and many India Blue Peafowl. We also raise Great Pyrenese Dogs. I will next year have a pair of Grey Dewlaps from Holderreads and hopefully a pair of Buff Dewlaps from Celtic oaks from the Alpha flock. That is pretty much all I own. I plan on posting progress pictures of my goslings next year over time so you guys can see growth and development of the breeding stock I obtain.

we had another round of heavy breeding in that group this week. Now will be watching and waiting for the girls to start playing with their nesting area.
