Buff Dewlap Toulouse Thread

Beautiful pics!!  I am having fun watching everyone's dewlaps grow up into roly-poly mellow adults. My buffs range from mid April to early May and my greys range from mid to late May.  Their rate of development has been very individual, but the girls are overall smaller and slower developing.   Here are a few of my youngsters.  The one front center is my boy Nutmeg, the far right is Barley, the sole buff I hatched back during our hatchalong, and the one on the left is Piper, a boy (I think).

Our temps were in the 70's yesterday, and you have snow?

LoL, 200 takes about 30 minutes to pop off. I have a very limited window to go outside and take any pictures with the baby and his ever reducing nap schedule now a days. Mornings are too busy with over 100 animals to turn out, feed and water. Days are spent tending to little mans needs, the incubators and cooking three meals a day from scratch. Evenings in winter seem to fly by with the 6pm sunsets. I dont take pictures daily or even weekly, but when I go out I am sure to take a minimum of 200, sometimes as many as 400. Then I can sit inside and sort, delete mistakes, blurs ect, and watermark everything before I ever post them. Luckily the watermarking is automated.

Takes more time to edit than take pictures.

We all have lots to do I have a full time job that keeps me away from the farm 40 hours a week, and I have around 150+ birds and I do 90% of the chores by myself. I usually take pictures on the weekend if it's nice. It's easier in the summer, as I sit out there and soak up sun after chores anyway. When it's freezing cold. I take less pictures.

I used to like taking pics more, but I seriously don't have many daytime hours at home either. Between work, 2 side buisiness, and the girls, plus the birds, well....I can always aim for next summer!

Of course, if I want good pics, looks like I'll have to just do it anyway.

I bet if you looked at what all you have going on you could make 30 minutes of time once a month to sit and get good shots. Of course like aoxa said colder temps will always restrict outdoor activities. I would refuse to leave the house in winter when we were stationed at our last base.

I get 20 minutes of daylight at most doing chores. Everything is done in the dark - which I hate. That's why I do it weekends

I find the best lighting (when it's not pouring) is right around 3pm. That's right before night-time chores on the weekend. Works out if it is not miserable, which is rare until mid-December. Once it starts getting colder, the rain slows down. Easier to take pictures in the snow than in the rain. I'll take snow over rain right now. My ground is so soft and muddy.

What I wouldn't give for your temps in the winter... I definitely don't want your summer temps though.

Summers arent bad, we do things early, avoid 12-3 and do again in the evenings. With daylight till 9 and beyond there is plenty of time.
