Buff Dewlap Toulouse Thread

Pics
I wish it would warm up. I'm not loving having to change out frozen for fresh water every 8 hours. Forgot to bring them in last night, so I've got frozen blocks of ice thawing in my tub right now. I think I see a water heater for bird water in my future.
I love my heated buckets... still need 2 more for the ducks.... the chicken and turkeys have 2 gal metal waters with the heated bases for winter... now just need to do something about the rabbits..... 3 x ice change today

We were doing evening round up and Brunehilde and Gandalf didnt keep up with the rest of the 6 they pasture with tonight. So SHE backs up two steps and flap, flap, flap and gets 6 inches off the ground traveling forward MAYBE a foot and half.

Had tears coming out I was laughing so hard.
Josephine has done that a time or two in the middle of trying to keep up with the Embdens... It is funny and they try so hard to do a good job

Anyone on here know where to get real "QUALITY" buff dewlap Toulouse geese? Hoping to get a really good buff gander. A lot of the birds I see look crossed between an american buff and a dewlap toulouse. I could do that myself with my American buffs. I'm certain that's how they incorporated buff genetics to the exhibition toulouse, but has anyone already gone through the process and have some good stuff? Thanks :)

No, the true Buff Dewlap Toulouse are from Toulouse genetics, if its been crossed once, its crap forever.

Several of us have really good ones, but Holdereads could help you, but be prepared to pay $400 - $1000 and be on a waiting list, or hatch your own. Most of us bought eggs and hatched our own, and wouldn't part with them. I know mine aren't for sale.

They also have buffs. We've been discussing them via e-mail. I've seen some pics she sent (the lady that does their emails)

Sorry I was wrong about the buff color stuff. Oh well, never know everything.

Its ok Marty. All domestic geese came from two wild species, the European Grey leg and the Chinese swan goose. Us humans are just playing with genetics here. An American Buff, an Embden or a Toulouse are all the same genetically underneath it all. We just pay different prices for people's work. I got the buff dewlap situation covered now. Thanks

Need to get outside with the camera again (darn thing was dead the other day when I wanted to use it) but I did manage these "ok" pictures of the Alpha flock (actual breeding flock) of Buffs with my cell phone. Oh and Gandalf is in there too, because he is their fearless leader.
