Buff ducks?

I've been wondering for a little while, what makes a duck a BUFF duck? What does buff actually mean as I think it's used with chickens too!

Buff refers to it's color. Not sure if that is the ONLY reason they are called buffs, but that is sure part of it.

Buff Orpington is also a breed of duck, and they are buff colored.
