I had this once with a RIR hen and I culled her. Do I need to cull this one? It just started this morning. She's young.

Do you have a video that you can upload to YouTube with a link posted here? Chickens can wheeze for different reasons. If they suddenly develop stridor, that can happen when they get a piece of feed stuck in the airway. Look for other symptoms, such as watery/bubbly eyes, nasal drainage, or swollen eyelid which could be from a respiratory disease. Here is a video of a silkie with stridor that cleared up in a few hours:

no video. thanks for the great advice. I knew I could count on this forum. It seems she is back to normal already. I will keep an eye on her. Kind of feel bad for culling the RIR years ago when I heard that. Live and learn.

Glad to hear that she is back to normal. That is how it usually turns out when a piece of food gets stuck. I had a hen who did this a couple of days in a row, and she had been eating very quickly. She was fine by the next morning.

YEA what a relief.
