I asked this a few weeks ago and I think it's a he as did most everyone else. I've read that this breed is hard to tell but that comb sure is huge. I'm keeping him/her as long as he stays sweet but I will have to break it to my husband who is not so keen on roosters.

Opinions please...Oh, and at what age do they get the saddle feathers? I don't think I see those. He/she is 7 weeks old.

I'm certain that she's a he. AND, you just confirmed for me that my she IS a "she". I just put up a posting 2 days ago asking the exact same question. Mine is exactly 10 weeks old in these pictures. I'm sorry Melissa. He's very pretty and Buff Orpingtons are sooooo sweet!!

He is my fav and by far the sweetest of the group. I don't care either way, just looking for confirmation so I can tell my husband. He knows that I won't give any of them up anyway! Looks like I'll be on the hunt for a BO pullet!!! Your girls are beautiful by the way. Love this breed.

Looks like a roo to me. Can you tell by his personality? I can tell a lot more by the way they act then their comb early on. I watch 5-6 week old chicks spar in the brooder and know they are roosters.
