Buff Orpington Broody

Ok so I have a Buff Orpington pair, a rooster and a hen, they are both approximately 1.5 years of age. This morning when I fed the chickens the hen was laying an egg, which was about 10 o'clock her normal time. But when I went down there this afternoon at 11:45 she was still on the egg and VERY protective. Has she gone broody or is she just trying to keep warm in the below freezing weather? I'm in North Carolina and we have about 6 inches of snow/sleet/ice mainly sleet coming to about 4 inches of our total.

She may very well be going broody. If she stays in the nest box over night, the probability is even higher.
