Young hen has been broody in the nesting box for 28 days, whats the best way to stop it now?

Really? Never had that happen.

I do a couple of tricks that maybe help. I give all my chicks a drink of water. I wait till dark. I keep the chicks out side the coup in the cool night air. They will be peeping madly and get a little chilled. This is important because you want them to stick under her. It is that movement under that flips the hormones to mamma broody mode. In the dark, wearing gloves and a thick sweatshirt, grab a wildly peeping chick and stick them under her. If they are cold, they will feel wet to her like a freshly hatched chick. Add all of them, they will almost burrow into her to warm up. It should get quiet, and they will go to sleep. The broody voice will change. Now for the hard part, go out, shut the door and let them figure it out. Sometimes people interfere too much and upsets the broody.
