I'm trying to see what I can get if I get 1 splash Austrolorpe Roo to mate with my blacks, and my BO. I did that chicken genetic calculator deal at http://kippenjungle.nl/kruising.html, and it says it will give me 100% blue, but may not be accurate depending on what my BO came from. Chicken genetics is confusing stuff! Especially for a girl that stunk in Science in school! Lol

ok. I think I misunderstood you earlier. I thought you were saying a BO-Buff Orpington. I think I understand now that you are asking about a BlkO-Black Orpington, right? It should work the same. Because theoretically you blkO should pass on black color genes. But I dn't know for sure. From what i'm told it doesn't matter if a splsh is bred to a black the chicks will all be blue? Something to do with the way the blk gene works. But I admit I am conciderably new to this as well, having only been breeding and raising chickens for a few years now. However, I learned a lot about how color genes work in horses and dogs from the last twenty-five years working with them. I'm finding that the color genes tend to work the same with the birds, but there are some differences.
