This morning my buff Orpington had a bald spot around her 1 eye and her comb was limp and purple. She was acting fine so i thought maybe she had a tussle with one of the other hens. A few hours later i found her dead. She was perfectly fine until this morning and didn't have the bald spot or limp comb yesterday. I have a picture but it's graphic and didn't want to post it unless asked to. Thanks!

I'm sorry for you loss. Will you please post the picture/ s.
I apologize for the graphic nature. This is how i found her. She was my sidekick and I'm so devastated

You can see how the the feathers around her face are missing and her comb is purplish

Anyone have any ideas? I'm so worried that there may be a disease that could have spread

First off so sorry for your loss, I know hard that can be. Maybe another animal such as a squirrel or cat roamed over and passed it to her. Sometimes bald spots also mean mights.

I'm very sorry for you loss:hugs

Unfortunately without a necropsy, there is no way to know the cause of death.
Chickens can suddenly die from a heart attack, stroke, heat stress or something similar. If you have another suddenly die in a very short period of time, then sending the body to your state lab would be in order so you can get some definitive answers.
