I thought this chick was a Buff Orpington but now not so sure. He/she is more yellow and has "bars" of light and dark. Legs are whitish. Any thoughts? Also gender?

This bird is 6-7 weeks old.

I am pretty new to the wonderful world of chickens and had not heard of that color/pattern. Thanks! What about gender?

Not a very common color yet. Can't really see the picture all that we'll on my iPad, so I could be wrong but it looks similar to mine that I have growing out. Can't really see the comb, but you'll know soon enough. Lol. Or try a close picture from front and side and someone can tell you.

And welcome to the happy home of chicken keepers. I love all ....I'd don't really know how many I have. Ha!

If it were a true buff it would have more of a buff color by now. Yellow fades off on buffs as early as 2-3 weeks in my experience. I have raised two flocks of buffs now. I agree it looks like an Orpington. Just not a buff. :D
