Buff Orpington Laying White Eggs?

I've never seen a bird that looked any less like a BO

Yes, white earlobes = white eggs. From what I've heard anyway..

Actually, I learned recently that the earlobes and egg color aren't connected at all! It just happens that most white layers are Mediterranean breeds with white ear lobes. There are a couple of red-eared, white egg layer breeds and a white-eared, dark egg layer called a Penedesenca. And then there are the mixes... I have two white-eared pullets that lay blue and green eggs...

Thanks all! That's so funny. They sold it to us as a BO, and I thought for a while it was a rooster because it was so lanky and NOT fluffy. When we realized it was definitely a she, my mother was just referring to it as a runt. Also, she does not in any way fit the personality of a BO, hence I referred to her (lovingly) as "nutcase". So until the egg color threw me for a bigger loop, I just thought she had some genetic issues

. Good to know she's not an abby-normal BO and IS a healthy MINORCA.

I have two like that, they are supposed to be buff leghorns! I posted a thread quite awhile back asking about them. They lay tan eggs! My girls have yellow ears!

OMG! I have her cousin! I have 5 Orpington Hens and added a couple more. I Couldn't figure out why one was so different. Thought she was a runt. Took her forever to lay her first egg and when it was white, we thought "what the heck?!".
Even her egg song is in another language! Thank you for asking the question and thanks to those that answered.
