Sounds like your taking great care of them. I wouldn't be too worried about how thin he s. IF he is growin fast his body has to keep up. And these birds keep growing well past one year old.

He is barred (the colour tends to be called cuckoo in orps & pekins for whatever reason) Yes, they can be called pure bred Orpingtons, because they conform to type (a lot better than many Orps one sees) & they also breed true.

Oh I didn't read that properly....no he's not a Buff Orp he's a Buff Cuckoo Orp.

I love the cuckoo orp! Never cared much for barring until I saw it in different colors. That's just so pretty.
