*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Well, the man I hoped to get some buff Orphingtons from had already sold them. So, I just ordered some babies from a hatchery. Ordered 2 BO hens and 1 Speckled Sussex hen. Can't wait!! They will be here August 13-15!!

How were you able to only order 3??? Which hatchery is it?

Meyer Hatchery. This time of year they only have a 3 chick limit, cause its warmer weather.

is shipping insane for only three? I've only ever bought locally.

It was like $30 something for shipping. Total was $41.56, but I don't remember exactly which part was for chicks & which was for shipping. Lol I can't find anyone local to buy from! :(

I Have A Question For All You Buff Orpington Experts, yesterday i went and purchased 30 buff orpington pullets, about 18 weeks Old Give Or take a couple week, most of which look exactly like the 4 bo's i had previous to the new ones. But a few of the new ones have yellow legs, instead of white, is it possibly a mix or a true orpington?

Lots of hatchery "Orps" have been crossed with Leghorns and Rocks. That's where those yellow legs are coming from. Buff Orps must have flesh colored legs. Yellow legs are a disqualification.

I don't like the way my BO babies are coming out! They are too....orange-y....they are not light colored at all!! My hens are light and my roo is a little darker, like a normal BO should look like...but the babies look NOTHING like the parents' colors!! No crosses in the line (I don't think)...I got some chicks from someone local last Spring who had ordered eggs from ebay and other places and hatched them out and sold the chicks...so the parents came from different locations/venues/lines....I just can't figure out why my babies are ORANGE!
