Hey guys when do buff Orps start to lay? Also when do they stop growing? And another question, what is the HEIGHT of them, not weight. If someone could send a pic with a peson beside a buff orp that would be great! Thank you, from BuffOrps123

Omgoodnes! Its driving me crazy feeling like I really do have a BO pair when I'm supposed to have 2 pullets! Lol the only reason it would really matter is because I already have a SS rooster, & would need to make a whole new coop and run in order to keep another rooster. They're only 4 weeks old, so like 16 weeks before I find out for sure?? I'll lose my mind! ( Its not a difficult thing to lose) Lol

A good Orp male is as tall and wide as a 5 gallon bucket. They stop growing in height at about 7 months, but get wider and heavier until they are 2.My Orps start laying at 5 months old.

Can someone answer my Q?

Mine are still young but I have done lots of research so here is my best answer-All hens are different but Buff Orps tend to start around 20-22 weeks. I have read people saying as early as 18 weeks and I have read LATE layers. As far as height go's- There are roos that can get HUGE. Like more than 3ft-rare show winners, the hens not so much-around a foot- but it depends on if they are hatchery, backyard, or English breed. I have been told by experts that the hatchery birds are smaller.
