*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Today for the first time in 2 weeks I got a chance to sit and have a chat with my buff chicks. I have been on a training course so by the time I get home they are usually sleeping.
Scramble, whom I think may be male was so excited to see me and jumped up on my shoulder were he spent a long while just chilling. Omelette the smallest of the five has never had a tail, and oh my! there is a little stump merging! "She" is so gorgeous. Will pop a picture of her during the weekend I promise.
Enjoy your Good Friday all.

isn't that fun? I love it when they talk to us. I had let the girls out for several hours this morning and to get them back into the run all I need is to open the can that holds the scratch. I counted...and again. then once more. I checked the nest boxes... I checked the garden just in case she figure out how to get in but not out... #13 was still missing.

Then I see this soil fly up from behind a low hanging branch. I go over there and pick her up and she says," No No No! There's things I need to do.' and I show her the other chickens in the run eating scratch and she just goes limp and says, 'Well, I guess." Then when I got her to the run she was like, 'But hugging is good too."
I love my buffs.
I really do.

I'm used to the full vocabulary but got a new one this morning. We got our aaaawwwwkkk, our buk buk buk, our bawk bawk, your cluck, squawk, bugawwwk but

-today- there were two Buff Orps in two of the orange home depot bucket nesting boxes (they dont like the blue Lowes buckets must be the color orange they prefer) and I reached into a third to grab two eggs and one of the Buff took great offense to my reaching and arched her back and neck backward stuck her beak straight up in the air 90% and went OWW OWW! It scared me because it was unexpected and loud being indoors made it seem louder especially up close like only one bucket away.

Here is that questionable Orp chick at a couple days past 4 weeks old now. Still looks, stands and sometimes acts like a male to a degree, and certainly feathered like a cockerel, but I should be seeing a huge pink comb by now, I'd think, if Betsy was a Bubba.
Betsy in back right standing on the pan, NH pullet in front.

Bella and oeflay can't even forage together, they always stop for a scrap when they get close enough
