*Buff Orpington Thread!*

I really want to snuggle these girls and am hoping they'll become part of the family

So even though I didn't raise them do you all think they will eventually let us pet them? Maybe even hold them?

Yup. Buff Orpingtons are known for being very friendly. What I would do is get some mealworms (unless that kind of grosses you out. There are plenty of other treats you can give them), and hand feed them. When they come over to you, pet them gently while they eat the worm. It may take some time, but eventually, they'll let you pick them up :).

Sounds great! Thank you!! Right now I'm doing plain greek yogurt with water and their feed mixed in as an extra treat and then just hung a cabbage in there for them :) The mealworms are a great idea! Thank you!!

I'm suffering from empty nest syndrome. Our babies are 6 weeks old now and have moved out to their coop. 48 hours later, today, was their first trip outdoors.

I had to bodily drag them outside. Once out two buff hens proceeded to take dirt baths that lasted a good hour. Then I couldn't get them back inside. Our nights have been cold and I've kept a heat lamp on for them at night as the roosters are still a bit fuzzy butted. I kept telling the little dopes that I was too old to chase them around the run but they didn't listen to me.

It is good to have them out of the house but I have to admit that I kinda miss their peeping and later, their squabbling coming from my utility room.
