*Buff Orpington Thread!*

We are wanting to get some Buff chicks this spring!  Do they need anything extra than the other chickens?

Not anything special. They are very hardy. They were one of the first breeds I kept and I still have one. She's about nine years old. Very gentle, mine were always a little stand-off-ish but she still runs to greet me and eats out of my hand. The only issue I ever had was broodiness in the hens and that's only a problem if you don't want more chicks.

I have heard they are very cold hardy and I am happy about that and I have also heard that they are very docile, also another plus! We don't have a rooster/cockerel currently so fertilized eggs would not be an issue. Thank you!

My handsome Roo Buddy. He's quite a character, and very gentle. We have a good understanding now lol He's grown into a HUGE boy, and I love him dearly.

Hi guys I wanted your opinion on something, there is a breeder in San Antonio she said that she could sell me her English buff orp breeders (1 roo+ 3hens) for $200 she's 2hrs away and I won't be able to buy them until after March 6 because she's taking two to a show. I was just wondering whether I should get them or not, she also has sq silkies/showgirls and is selling her breeders for $90 (1 roo+3 hens) but I'm going to get silkie/showgirl chicks
