My little girl goldilocks
Hi Goldilocks!

She's a pretty girl.

I love seeing what my buffs will look like all grown up. Your chickens are all beautiful. Here is my girl Bernice at 9 weeks. She's my favorite (shhh don't tell the others).

I'm not sure if this is the best thread to ask this but...anyone have any mean Buff Orphingtons? I'm a new chicken mom and have a flock of 5. She was the one I was most excited about but she isnt at all what I thought she would be. Maybe she's just a special one but man, she bites me and my children. She's 11 weeks old. Will this change?

How old are your children and how much are they handling her? This is extremely unusual behavior for any 11 week old pullet.

My children are 2 and 4. My 4 year old helps me with the chickens so she is frequently in the run feeding and trying to pet them. She is gentle but she loves to pick them up and hold them. She loves to let them eat meal worms from her hand. We can let all but our buff orphington though because she bites so hard. They are all somewhat skiddish when the kids are around (I would be too!). Now that I think about it maybe the kids play a big part in this....?

I have a six year old daughter that needs constant reminders that the chicks aren't stuffies or toys or here for her amusement. 2 and 4 is pretty little; I suspect your Buff chick is in self defense mode the minute she sees people.
The other possibility(although my first guess is too much handling) is that she is hungry. Is she developing at the same rate as the other chicks?
