Sooo... today I saw someone had scratched up the good section of the lawn and ruined some flowers and knocked over the pellet tray. Looked around and found the culprit.

I just received some buffs in a shipment luckily I received one extra! They are 1 week old. One of them has a small amount of black on wings. What does this mean if anything?

Buffs tend to have black leakage. Do you have any pics? They usually don't have too much black but some do

I'm no breeder or geneticist, but a little black I think could be from whatever parentage they have in the past. Hatchery birds can have a little black "bleed through" in the feathering. My BO's have a little dark speckling in the tail feathers. Since my are just backyard chickens and I'm not looking for "show quality" birds, it doesn't matter to me.

At 1week, they will be loosing that downy and any feathers, so you may see more black come in or it could possibly disappear. Will be interesting to see what happens as they mature and fully feather
