Crisis averted! I candled the 63 I had tonight and took out 7, then added in my 7 BO's, now I'm just gonna have to figure out multi stage hatching. Got any tips, oh educator badge over there? ;)

I'm glad your crisis is over!

LOL, I'm sorry, but I don't know much at all about hatching, that's not something I have gotten into. I would ask on the Incubating and Hatching forums - there's some very knowledgeable and helpful folks that I'm sure would be happy to help with multi-stage hatching.

Hello people. I am usually on the Surviving Minnesota forum but jumped over here because, selfishly, I have a question concerning one of my two BO. She has been laying a shell-less egg. Her shells are pretty soft when she does lay with one. She gets purina layena - so a good feed blend I believe. It has Oyster shell but I give them egg shells also as a treat and sometimes extra oyster shell. No one else in the flock of 19 has this issue. Anyone have any input on this issue? Thank you.

Shell less eggs are usually different that brittle shell. Brittle shells are he from a calcium deficiency or something like a mild respiratory infection. Those without a hard shell are usually a glitch or from stress.

Hmmmm . . . . . I have two birds in the 'hospital' coop and they are in recovery, doing well. The coop could hold one more hen and I keep them as low stressed as possible. Spoiled. Maybe I should move her over there as she seems low on the totem pole in the flock.
