I would boost her calcium with roasted egg shells ground into powder on top of oyster shell to harden her shells up. I had a hen that laid soft shells but started doing what I just typed as well as plain flavor yogurt and the shells are hard as steel. As for the bugs I am not sure, my guys eat any bugs that enter the coopHey guys. I have a question about bugs. I cleaned out the hay and barley from the coop (chickens still sleeping on the floor and not roosts) and nesting box and saw a few bugs in the nesting box under the bedding. One of the chickens still lays soft shell eggs and quite often they break and sinks to the bottom I'm thinking maybe that's what attracted them.
Are there little crawly bugs something others see or is this something I should worry about?
