Would a 42x42in coop be big enough for 3 Buff Orps?

looks more like a production red to me; BO should be lighter and more golden colored, not red

Do you mean a place to sleep in only ? Orps need a lot of room. I keep no more than 12 birds in a 20 x 20' covered run. Their sleeping space allows plenty of room too. Big SOP Orps like mine will not do well in chicken tractors , or small cages. They need to get out to range, and have plenty of room, or you will run into problems.

If you have hatchery Orps , who do not get nearly as large, you can get away with slightly less space, but the more room , the better. My hens run 10 lbs. +, and my cockbirds 15 lbs. plus. About twice what a hatchery bird will weigh.

Looks like a golden Buff or Golden comet to me. Not a SOP Buff Orpingtom.
